Capt Jim headed offshore today with Dr Rich Lee and while there was a tuna bite going on for a short time they didn’t get bit. Instead some other pelagics came in to the boat. Along with the bluefin, the mahi and skipjack tuna are also plentiful on the offshore grounds at this time. We have boats ready and waiting if you want to go. Give us a call!
After a week of high winds and many cancelations Capt Gene was able to get back on the tuna grounds today and boy did the guys put a hurtin on em. Long time Shore Catch sport Mark Deangelis came with his Dad Tom to get Tom his first tuna ever. An absolute “buttercup” ride out to the grounds led way to a great sunrise and within minutes of dropping back the first line they were tight with Charlie TUNA.
The AM bite was solid with fish from 30 to 100 lbs coming on Blue and White Joe Shute / Ballyhoo combo’s. At times it was tought to even get two lines out as the fish were agressive as hell. Once the bite slowed on the troll the guys switched over to the jig, testing out rods from one of our new Sponsor’s – SPINAL RODS. They fished the 5’6″ acid wrapped conventionals in 250 grm, 300grm, and 350 grm. These rods are insane! Light and powerful. Young Hunter was getting fish to the boat in a matter of minutes on the 300 gram stick.
From the first drop to the last it was basically drop and fishing with again fish ranging from 30 to over 100 lbs – everyone coming on either a 150 gram or 200 gram STINGO PBJ Jig.
We read tons of bait, and the fish we did kill were loaded with sand eels. Giddy up!!

Capt Adam made another trip to get into some topwater tuna action again with Travis from Spinal Rods and Dr. Andy Wurst. Although the action was scattered Andy landed his largest tuna to date and it was caught on a spinning rod in 20 minutes. After the tuna they decided to take it easy and spend the rest of the time relaxing and catching stripers which were thick in the area as well as some humpback whales which gave the boys an aerial display.
